Introduction to V2A's Mission

Recently, Retired U.S. Army Colonel Mike Ross engaged with members of District 13 VFW to shed light on the pioneering mission of Veterans Villages of America (V2A). Situated in Little Rock, Arkansas, V2A is dedicated to creating an unparalleled holistic support system for veterans. This innovative facility offers a range of services, including permanent and transitional housing as well as vocational training, all aimed at supporting veterans in Central Arkansas and beyond.

Addressing Veteran Challenges

During his visit, COL Ross addressed the critical issues facing veterans today, including rising rates of suicide, homelessness, unemployment, and incarceration. He emphasized the need for a concerted effort, saying, “What we’re currently doing isn’t enough. We’re proposing a $32 million project under the American Rescue Plan to establish a unique model for veteran support. This pilot program, if successful, has the potential to be replicated nationwide.” He shared the enthusiasm of the national commander of the American Legion for this visionary approach, highlighting the urgent need for a strategic organization: “We’re fighting a different kind of war here at home, and it’s time we unite our efforts and resources for greater impact.”

A Call to Action

A recent video shared by the VFW Department of Arkansas on Facebook captures COL Ross's passionate call to action. In it, he urges veterans and their families to utilize the extensive resources offered by V2A, including a wide range of essentials available at no cost at the V2A facilities in Little Rock and North Little Rock. Our doors are open to all veterans, regardless of their financial situation,' Ross stated. “It’s not just about meeting immediate needs; it’s about honoring their service by ensuring they have access to the resources they deserve.”

Support Through the V2A Food Pantry

Moreover, our North Little Rock facility, located at 8325 MacArthur Drive, hosts the V2A food pantry. Open on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month; this pantry is another avenue through which we extend our support to veterans and their families.

Invitation to Veterans

COL Ross, underscoring the importance of these resources, invites all veterans to make the most of these facilities. “No matter your financial situation, we want you to benefit from what V2A has to offer,” he says. “Even if you don't need assistance with food or clothing, you're welcome to take items from our pantry or donation rooms. This can free up resources for other needs or simply allow you to treat yourself. You've served our country and deserve this support and recognition.”
